As a rough guide, TXDelay depends on your radio - you need to allow for the
radio to key up (which can be anything from very small for a good PIN-switched
xtal rig to very large for a grotty relay-switched synth rig) and for the RX
modem to lock to the incoming signal.
For actual parameters, you can reduce FRACK and RESPTIME (sorry for using TNC2-
speak but more people can relate to it) such that RESPTIME is slightly bigger
than the time taken to send MAXFRAME packets and FRACK is slightly over twice
this amount (to allow for MAXFRAME coming back and the RR frame).
If you have a *really* good dedicated link then you can try MAXFRAME larger
than two, but watch the throughput and be prepared to tweak it until it works
best.
The level 3/4 stuff is probably best left alone, especially if you need to
interact with a 1200baud network, because the delays in that network will
still be fairly significant.

Depends..... there is a warning about dire consequences of increasing the MTU
so if you do it, be prepared for some interesting results!
Note that all of the above is applicable to (half duplex) links of any speed,
not just 9600 (Full duplex is another matter entirely!) Basically, take them
as a starting point and experiment for the best results. After all, that is
partly why we are playing radio!

I have a BayPac Packet Modem and would like to hook it to my
Kenwood TM-241a Mobile. I'm in need of the pin configuration to properly
hook up the Packet Modem. The TM-241a has an 8-Pin mic connector.
Thx for any help anyone can offer! (Please reply via EMail)

Yes, but at a mere 18,000 pounds not many can afford such a car. Practically, I
found the Cavallier reasonable RF quiet. Fiat Uno, too noisy. Diesels are
definately better, they have a bigger battery too.

Hi Bruce,
Software support for the dsp 12 is badly lacking, but there is a newer
version than you have. I took a look at my GCE display, which shows
2.00. However, I think there have been a bunch of beta versions between
yours and mine. I searched my disk for a zip file, but I don't seem to
have it now. If you cannnot find it elsewhere, I may be able to locate
it. Let me know via mail, and whether or not you can uudecode files.

Well, after many years of inactivity, I have unburied the TNC I used to
use when on packet. It is a Heathkit HD-4040 and I am curious to find
out if any one knows whether or not it can be brought up to current
standards.
Thank you very much,

Subject: Plans for DCD-3105 board
To: ham-digital@ucsd.edu
I have some TNCs and some baycom boards on my multiport Packet BBS.
I was reading through the manual for one of the TNCs (DRSI DPK-2), and it
talks about a DCD board option that basically goes inbetween the TCM3105 chip
and its socket.
Having DCD has shown itself to be nice with the Software DCD that the KPC-3
TNC does. I have problems with Intermod and frontend overload problems, etc.
Without having to buy the board itself, are there plans on how to build this
DCD unit?
And, would anybody know if it would work on Baycom modems built around the
same chip.
